Franz Glaser (archaeologist)

Franz Glaser (born September 6, 1950 in Linz ) is an Austrian classical archaeologist .

Glaser studied Classical Archeology and Ancient Numismatics at the University of Vienna , where he received his doctorate in 1976. Since 1977 he has been custodian at the State Museum of Carinthia in Klagenfurt , where he was head of the department for Provincial Roman Archeology and Ancient Numismatics and from 2008 until his retirement in 2015 as deputy director. He also heads the Teurnia Roman Museum and set up the Globasnitz Archaeological Pilgrimage Museum . He carried out numerous excavations and gave numerous lectures. In 1989 he completed his habilitation at the University of Innsbruck , where he has been an associate professor since 1996. He also taught as a visiting professor in Vienna, Graz and Salzburg.
