Franz Goltsch

Franz Goltsch (born November 8, 1865 in Laibach , † January 13, 1921 in Vienna ) was an Austrian writer and poet .

Life

Born as the son of a master shoemaker, Goltsch studied German in Vienna and Graz after attending grammar school . During his studies in 1884 he was one of the founders of the Carniola Graz fraternity . In 1893 he was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD . From 1886 he was in the service of the Styrian State Library at the Joanneum , first as a scriptor , later as a senior librarian . In 1889/90 he was on the committee of the Südmark Association , but resigned this activity because the association was too radical for him. From 1900 to 1905 he was a member of the Graz municipal council . He was in close contact with Edward Samhaber, particularly on issues of ethnicity .

Honors

His name is on the Offenhausen poet's stone .
