Franz Clemens Josef Aloys Graf von Westphalen zu Fürstenberg (* February 2, 1864 at Laer Castle ; † May 31, 1930 in Münster ) was district administrator of the Münster district . He comes from the noble family von Westphalen .

family

He was the son of Clemens August von Westphalen zu Fürstenberg and his second wife Cäcillie Charlotte Henriette (née Lucchesini) . He later married Lidwine Friederika Maria Josepha Huberta Beatrix von and zu Eltz-Rübenach . One of his sons was Karl von Westphalen . One of his brothers was Otto von Westphalen zu Fürstenberg , district administrator of the Lüdinghausen district .

Life

He received three acres from his parents' property. After graduating from high school in Warburg , Westphalen zu Fürstenberg studied law in Bonn and Göttingen . Then he completed the usual preparatory service for the Prussian judicial and civil service. He did his military service as a one-year volunteer in 1884/85 in the King's Hussar Regiment No. 7 in Bonn. As Second Lieutenant of the Reserve, he retired from the military. In 1894 he passed the examination to become a government assessor at the Münster government . On October 1, 1896, he was temporarily entrusted with the administration of the Münster district before he officially took over this office in 1897.

After the transition from the Kingdom to the Free State of Prussia , the State Ministry wanted to replace him. The government refrained from doing this when the district council expressed the wish for Westphalen-Fürstenberg to remain in office. He did not retire from active service until 1928 when he reached retirement age.
