Otto (baptized name: Otto Joseph Hubert) von Westphalen zu Fürstenberg (born March 14, 1875 at Laer Castle ; † May 20, 1927 in Braunlage ) was a Prussian district administrator .

Life

Origin and family

Otto von Westphalen zu Fürstenberg was born as the fourth son of the married couple Clemens August von Westphalen zu Fürstenberg and his wife Cäcilie Charlotte Henriette Lucchesini. On July 21, 1906, he married Wilhelmine von Haxthausen (* 1882, † 1920), daughter of Karl Moritz Elmenhaus von Haxthausen (hereditary steward in the Principality of Paderborn) and Hermenegilde von Bocholtz-Asseburg.

Professional background

After graduating from high school in Paulinum (Münster), Otto studied law at the universities of Freiburg, Munich, Lausanne and Göttingen and on June 25, 1898, passed the examination to become a trainee lawyer at the Higher Regional Court of Celle. On April 4, 1903, the examination to become a court assessor followed. He was initially entrusted with the administration of an assistant judge position at the Münster district court and then assigned to the Glogau district office and appointed as a government assessor. The transfer to the Liegnitz government followed on May 29, 1905 . On July 10, 1905, he was entrusted with the municipal administration of the Lüdinghausen district office and on April 9, 1906, he was finally appointed district administrator of the Lüdinghausen district. He held this office until his death. His brother Franz Graf von Westphalen zu Fürstenberg was district administrator of the Münster district .
