Franz Gruber (born December 23, 1877 in Alzey ; † June 18, 1937 in Bad Kreuznach ) was a Hessian politician ( SPD Hesse ) and a former member of the state parliament of the People's State of Hesse in the Weimar Republic .

family

Franz Gruber was the son of the bricklayer Georg Gruber and his wife Karoline nee Mörsfelder. On December 16, 1900, he married Anna Maria nee Feik in Worms . Franz Gruber was initially a Catholic denomination and was later listed as non-denominational.

education and profession

Franz Gruber attended elementary school and worked as a bricklayer until 1919. From 1919 to 1933 he was an employee of the construction workers' association in Bad Kreuznach.

politics

Franz Gruber was chairman of the SPD in Bad Kreuznach from 1902 to 1919 and from 1920 to 1928. From 1907 to 1911 he was also chairman of the union cartel.

In terms of local politics, he was active as a city councilor in Alzey from 1909 to 1919 and later as an alderman, district council and district committee member. From 1919 to 1920 he was a member of the state parliament. On July 21, 1920, Karl Neff moved up for him in the state parliament. Reichstag candidates in 1924, 1924 II, 1928 and 1930 in constituency 21 (Koblenz-Trier) were unsuccessful.
