Karl Neff

Georg Jakob Karl Neff (born July 23, 1882 in Michelstadt ; † June 4, 1958 ) was a Hessian politician ( SPD ) and a member of the state assembly of Greater Hesse , a predecessor of the Hessian state parliament .

Life

Karl Neff was born as the son of master cooper Wilhelm Neff and his wife Elisabethe nee Falkenstein. He attended elementary school and, like his father, did an apprenticeship as a cooper and wine cooper. He worked as a self-employed master cooper until 1908 and as an innkeeper in Michelstadt from 1908. During the Nazi era he was an agricultural product dealer until April 1945.

Karl Neff was a Protestant and married to Anna Margarethe born Göttmann.

politics

In the Weimar Republic , Neff was first chairman of the SPD in Erbach until 1933. From 1919 to 1924 he was a member of the local council and the district council before he was an alderman in Michelstadt from November 1924 to January 1930. From July 21, 1920 (as a replacement for Franz Gruber ) until the end of the second electoral term in 1924, he was a member of the state parliament of the People's State of Hesse . Between January 1930 and the seizure of power in 1933 he was mayor of Michelstadt.

From May 4, 1945 to March 31, 1951 he was district administrator for the district of Erbach (Odenwald) . In 1946 he became the SPD chairman of the Erbach district.

From July 15, 1946 to November 30, 1946 Neff was a member of the state assembly of Greater Hesse that advised the constitution.

  • In Nieder-Kainsbach , Karl-Neff-Strasse was named after him in a new development area designated in the 1960s.
