Karl Jost

Johann Karl Jost (born May 13, 1832 in Bensheim ; † October 25, 1898 in Gießen ) was a Hessian administrative officer, politician ( NLP ) and member of the 2nd Chamber of the Land estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Life

Karl Jost was the son of the businessman Johann Baptist Jost (1790-1856) and his wife Wilhelmine Charlotte, née Rubel (1806-1874). Jost, who was a Catholic, married on October 27, 1868 in Ulrichstein Caroline Theresa Ludgardis, born Cessner (1849-1912), daughter of the district judge in Wimpfen, Wilhelm Cessner.

Jost studied law and political science and became a government attorney . In 1867 he became a district assessor in Schotten and in 1874 in Heppenheim. From 1877 he was a district councilor in the Erbach district . From 1886 he was a councilor at the Provincial Directorate of the Starkenburg Province . He retired in 1893 and was admitted to the bar at the Giessen Regional Court in 1894 .

From 1875 to 1887 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates. He was elected for the constituency Starkenburg 5 / Fürth .
