Carl Ludwig (politician)

Ludwig Carl Ludwig , also Ludwig Karl Ludwig (born July 13, 1773 in Bessungen , † August 21, 1860 in Darmstadt ) was a German judge and politician and a member of the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse . In the estates he took conservative positions.

family

Ludwig Karl Ludwig was the son of the chief forester Johann Ludwig Ludwig (1725–1796) and his wife Johannette Ferdinande Sophie, née Briel. Ludwig, who was of Protestant faith, married Charlotte Helene, née Ruths († April 2, 1803), on March 27, 1802 in Darmstadt. After the death of his first wife, he married on July 14, 1815 in Darmstadt, Sophie, born Ruths (1776-1845). The daughters Wilhelmine (1802–1882), Babette (1806–1898), who married the pastor in Walldorf and Groß-Umstadt Friedrich Wilhelm Frey on March 24, 1828 in Darmstadt, emerged from the first marriage. Children from the second marriage were:

  • Friedrich Ludwig (* 1816 in Darmstadt; † January 25, 1835), law student
  • Julie Ludwig (1817–1896), married to the court judge in Darmstadt Justus Jacob Carl Ludwig (1819–1889) and
  • Carl Georg Ludwig (1826–1910), doctor, psychiatrist, secret medical adviser

Life

From 1791 Ludwig studied law at the University of Giessen . In 1796 he became government advocate and procurator in Darmstadt, where he later became court court advocate. From 1809 he worked as a prov. Assessor at the embarrassing court in Darmstadt and in 1811 he became a real court judge at the court in Darmstadt . In 1813 he switched to the Darmstadt Higher Appeal Court as a judge . In 1835 he was given the character of a Secret Higher Appeal Judge and in 1845 he became director (later President) of the Higher Appeal Court. In 1855 he was retired.

From 1835 to 1841 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates. He was elected for the constituency Starkenburg 7 / Heppenheim-Fürth .
