Franz Edler von Habermann (born December 17, 1788 in Prague , † March 2, 1866 in Vienna ) was an Austrian military painter.

Life

Franz von Habermann was an Imperial and Royal Ministerial Councilor , a high official of the Habsburg Monarchy . According to Ulrich Thieme's lexicon of artists , he was considered a "dilettante" . This contradicts the fact that he was accepted into the council of the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna in 1847 and his paintings were shown in the Berlin Academy of Arts , among other places . Furthermore, numerous paintings by Habermann's hand, especially those from the time of the coalition wars, were reproduced in lithographs and aquatint sheets, among others by the Trentsensky publishing house and Anton Pucherna.
