Franz Habisreutinger is a timber trading company in Weingarten in the Ravensburg district in Upper Swabia .

history

In the records of Weingarten Monastery , a sawmill named Johann Georg Habisreutinger was noted in 1712, who moved to Weingarten on the occasion of the new construction of the basilica from Immenstadt im Allgäu . Already in 1431 there was a mention of a monastic upper sawmill. Franz-Josef Habisreutinger, son of Severin Habisreutinger (* 1707), was registered as the leaseholder of the Upper Sawmill in 1803, when the secularization began .

In 1822 the Königliche Kameralamt Altdorf , as Weingarten used to be called, sold the sawmill to Johann Baptist Habisreutinger. In 1911 a pressure line was built from the Mahlweiher to the sawmill. The turbine connected there with its 150 hp power provided the company with energy. In 1933 the company set up a new timber warehouse on Waldseer Straße. The development of new wood-based materials led to the addition of plywood, veneer and other panels to the company's range in 1950. In the 1960s, a steam power plant with a nominal output of 300 hp was built on the company premises. In 1976 the first branch was opened in Friedrichshafen . In 1977, a new administration building with showrooms and sawn timber roofing was built and moved into on Waldseer Straße. In 1981 the subsidiary in St. Gallen was added , in 1985 the location in Biberach , in 1988, after the takeover, the Messner woodworking company in Wurmlingen, the branch in Neu-Ulm in 1996 and the branch in Gersthofen in 2014 .

In 2000 the original branch of the company, the sawmill, was closed. Since then, the company has been active exclusively in retail. Further branches were opened in Nürtingen in 2008 , in Kempten in 2009 and in Freiburg in 2013 .

Weingarten exhibition

In the urban area of Weingarten, the company expanded continuously over the years. A freight wagon unloading station was built on the old Bundeswehr site of the Argonnen barracks, which bordered the Deutsche Bahn site, but is no longer used. Buffer stores for shops were set up on the premises of the old road maintenance depot.
