Franz Hermann Reinhold Frank
Franz Hermann Reinhold von Frank (born May 2, 1827 in Altenburg ; † February 7, 1894 in Erlangen ) was a Lutheran theologian (dogmatist) from Germany .
In 1848 Frank was a co-founder of the Evangelical Lutheran Student Association Philadelphia-Leipzig, which belongs to the Leuchtenburg Association founded in 1909. From 1857 he was a professor at the University of Erlangen . He came from the awakening movement of the 19th century and was an opponent of Albrecht Ritschl . In Erlangen he shaped the empirical theological approach of both Adolf von Harless and Johann Christian Konrad von Hofmann and was therefore considered the dogmatic head of the Erlangen school .
