Franz Hyazinth (Savoy)
Franz Hyazinth ( Francesco Giacinto ) (born September 14, 1632 in Turin , † October 4, 1638 in Castello del Valentino in Turin) was Duke of Savoy , Prince of Piedmont , Margrave of Saluzzo , Count of Aosta , Moriana , Asti and Nice and Titular King of Cyprus and Jerusalem (1637–1638).
After his father died in 1637, the underage Franz Hyazinth became duke. His mother wanted to exercise guardianship over her son herself and thus rule over Savoy-Piedmont. However, her brother-in-law , Cardinal Moritz von Savoyen and his younger brother Thomas Franz tried to prevent this. When Franz Hyazinth died in October 1638 and Moritz von Savoyen took second place in the succession to the throne, a war of succession broke out in the House of Savoy. Franz Hyazinth's mother Christina of France emerged victorious from this armed conflict that lasted over four years.
