Franz Joseph Lederle (born November 14, 1826 in Basel , † May 25, 1905 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German draftsman and landscape painter .

Life

Lederle began his artistic training at the Art Academy in Munich in 1851 . In 1859 he married Berta Luise Schmid after converting from Catholic to Protestant faith. He lived and worked in Freiburg. Many of his paintings are also kept there in the Augustinian Museum.

Lederle worked for 32 years on the board of the Breisgau Association Schauinsland . Numerous pen-and-ink drawings of landscapes and historical buildings in Breisgau, which Lederle created, have been printed in the journal of this history association. These drawings are particularly valued by local historians, as they captured places and buildings true to life and thus give an insight into the past today.
