Franz Kohlhaupt
Franz Kohlhaupt (born June 20, 1893 in Kipfenberg near Eichstätt as Franz Josef Kohlhaupt ; † August 27, 1972 in Oberstdorf ) was a German doctor and alpinist .
He was one of the participants in the German-Soviet Alai-Pamir expedition of 1929 under the direction of Willi Rickmer Rickmers .
On August 29, 1946, he married the mountaineer, botanist and photographer Paula Kohlhaupt , née Sendtner, in Sonthofen . This marriage lasted until his death.
Kohlhaupt was one of the participants in the reception of the German scholars in the Leningrad Academy of Sciences and was involved in exploring the Fedchenko Glacier , among other things . Seriously injured by a horse's hoof kick in the face, he only barely got away with his life.
