Franz Lehmann (chemist)
Franz Lehmann (born February 6, 1881 in Tarputschen , † December 13, 1961 in Greifswald ; full name Karl Franz Lehmann ) was a German pharmaceutical chemist .
The son of a dairy farmer attended school in his hometown in East Prussia and graduated from high school in Insterburg in 1900 . He learned the profession of pharmacist and worked in various pharmacies from 1902 to 1904. In 1904 he began studying pharmacy and chemistry at the University of Marburg . There he became an assistant at the Pharmaceutical-Chemical Institute in 1908. He received his doctorate and habilitation in Marburg .
In 1921 he followed a call to the University of Greifswald , where he was full professor of pharmaceutical chemistry until 1952. With the support of SMAD , after the end of the war in 1945, he set up a pharmaceutical and medical institute in Greifswald's Soldmannstrasse, which he headed until his retirement in 1953.
Franz Lehmann was awarded the Hufeland Gold Medal for his services . He was a member of the Corps Marchia Greifswald and Irminsul .
