Franz Lemmermeyer
Franz Lemmermeyer (born February 20, 1962 in Zipplingen ) is a German mathematician , math historian and mathematics teacher.
Life
Lemmermeyer received his doctorate in 1995 from the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg under Peter Roquette (The construction of class fields). He then taught at the University of Heidelberg, the University of Saarbrücken and u. a. at Bilkent University in Ankara (Visiting Associate Professor). Since 2007 he has been a math teacher at the St. Gertrudis girls' school in Ellwangen .
Lemmermeyer is mainly concerned with number theory of elliptic curves and algebraic number theory (reciprocity laws, class field theory, number fields with Euclidean algorithm). He wrote a book on the history of reciprocity laws in number theory, Reciprocity Laws. From Euler to Eisenstein (2000). With Peter Roquette, he was involved in editing the correspondence between Helmut Hasse and Emil Artin (with Günther Frei ) and Emmy Noether . He is also editor of a number theory lecture by Carl Gustav Jacobi from 1836/37 with Herbert Pieper .
Franz Lemmermeyer is also a co-author of the new edition of the Algebra by Falko Lorenz . As part of Euler's Opera Omnia , he and M. Mattmüller edited the correspondence with Christian Goldbach .
On May 24, 2016, Franz Lemmermeyer was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Carl Friedrich Gauß Faculty of the Carolo Wilhelmina University of Technology in Braunschweig.
