Franz Lind (born February 4, 1900 in Freinsheim , † December 18, 1967 , ibid) was a German sculptor and painter .

Live and act

Lind began his sculptural training at the Mannheim Evening Academy . From 1922 to 1926 he attended the private sculpture class of the later Professor Josef Henselmann in Munich , 1926–1928 he studied with Professor Valmore Gemignani (1879–1958) at the Florence Art Academy .

In 1928 he returned home and worked in the region, interrupted by further study trips to Switzerland and Italy. During this creative period the war memorials in Bobenheim am Rhein and in Ellerstadt , the facade figure “Dear Home” , in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse and the altar of the Prot. Church Freinsheim were created.

Franz Lind took part in the Second World War as a soldier . After his return he stayed in Freinsheim and worked there again as a sculptor. During this time he made several monuments, e.g. B. in Beindersheim , in Böhl , in Haßloch , in Bad Dürkheim and in Ungstein . In Ludwigshafen he created the facade reliefs of the Lukaskirche in 1960, in Münchweiler an der Rodalb in 1961 a Paul relief on the bell tower of the Ev. Church.

In addition, he also devoted himself to oil painting.

Franz-Lind-Straße was named after him in his birthplace Freinsheim.
