He was the great-grandfather of the Hitler assassin Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg .

origin

He belonged to the Amerdingen line of the von Stauffenberg family . His father was Adam Friedrich Aloysius Franz Georg Maria Cresentia Schenk von Stauffenberg (1767-1808), his mother Charlotte von Harff (1777-1839). All still living members of the count's branch of this family descend from him.

In 1822 he completed his state examination for legal interns and in 1823 became a clerk at the government for Lower Franconia in Würzburg. In 1837 he became Bavarian Imperial Councilor and in 1849 President of the Chamber of Imperial Councils. Franz was known for his building craze. For example, from 1842 to 1846 he had the family-owned Stauffenberg Castle in Lautlingen, Württemberg, demolished and replaced with a new building. This was followed by the renewal of the castles in Amerdingen and Greifenstein , the new construction of the castle in Jettingen and the acquisition of the castle in Eberstall . Franz von Stauffenberg died on May 8, 1881 in his native Würzburg.
