Franz Mörscher

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Franz Mörscher (born November 7, 1931 in Bundenbach ; † July 14, 2018 in Neunkirchen (Saar) ) was a German sculptor, mosaic artist, painter, photographer and non-fiction author. Alongside the sculptor Hubert Nietsch, he was the second artist to erect a monument to the miner's cow in Germany from 1993 to 1995 .

The managing director of the World Heritage Site Völklinger Hütte and art historian Meinrad Maria Grewenig is quoted from his laudation for Franz Mörscher given in December 2013 in Neunkirchen (Saar) with the following sentences:

“You can deal with Mörscher's books several times until the end of your life. In Mörscher's book "Finistère - The pitfalls of aesthetic judgment in the world of images", this recurring debate is central. Between photos of rocky landscapes, coasts, boats and the people of the French department of Finistère, there are often short, concise sentences that open up a new world for the reader. "
