Franz Müller (politician)

Franz Müller (born January 9, 1915 in Vienna , † September 22, 1999 in Güssing ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and master hairdresser. He was 1960-1964 member of the Bundesrat and 1964-1975 Member of the National Council .

After finishing elementary and secondary school, Müller attended vocational school and between 1930 and 1933 learned the trade of hairdresser . In 1937 he passed the master craftsman examination. During the period of Austrofascism , Müller was sentenced to minor political punishments for political reasons. During the Second World War he was drafted into military service and was taken prisoner in Yugoslavia. After the end of the war, Müller opened his own hairdressing business in 1946, which he ran until 1975.

Müller was elected to the municipal council of Güssing in 1950 and held the office of vice mayor until 1964. In addition, he worked within the party from 1954 to 1980 as district party chairman of the SPÖ Güssing and was a member of the SPÖ state party executive. He represented the SPÖ from May 5, 1960 to May 13, 1964 in the Federal Council and was then a member of the National Council from May 13, 1964 to November 4, 1975.
