Franz Meyerheim (born October 10, 1838 in Berlin , † April 5, 1880 in Marburg ) was a German painter .

Life

Meyerheim was the son of the painter Friedrich Eduard Meyerheim ; his brother was the painter Paul Friedrich Meyerheim . The painters Wilhelm and Hermann Meyerheim were his uncles on his father's side.

Meyerheim received his first artistic lessons (together with his brother) from his father. At the age of 16 Meyerheim came to the art academy in his hometown in 1854 and moved to the Düsseldorf art academy four years later . In addition to Hesse and Tyrol , Meyerheim also traveled to Belgium, Italy and Switzerland.

Franz Meyerheim died on April 5, 1880 in Marburg at the age of less than 42 years.

Meyerheim's works were praised by the public as well as by official art critics and were valued for their delicate elegance .
