Franz Muheim (politician, 1923)
Franz Muheim (born February 1, 1923 in Flüelen ; † February 18, 2009 ) was a Swiss politician ( CVP ).
biography
From 1948, Muheim initially worked as an independent lawyer and notary in Altdorf . From 1954 to 1959 he was a member of the Altdorf City Council, from 1956 as its president . From 1959 to 1972 he was a member of the district administrator of the Canton of Uri , which he presided over in 1964/65. From 1971 to 1987, Muheim represented his canton in the Council of States . In 1982 his candidacy for the Federal Council failed.
From 1987 to 1991 he was a member of the Executive Council of UNESCO , based in Paris . From 1981 to 1991 he was President of the Federal Consultative Commission on Space Issues. From 1979 to 1995, Muheim was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Schindler Holding .
He had other long-term mandates on the advisory board of the Swiss National Bank , on the board of directors of the Swiss Federal Railways and as Vice President of the Swiss Bank Association in Basel .
