Franz Norbert Mennemeier

Franz Norbert Mennemeier (born October 1, 1924 in Beckum ) is a German literary scholar and writer .

Life

Franz Norbert Mennemeier studied German , English , history and philosophy . In 1948 he was at the University of Muenster with a dissertation on Hugo von Hofmannsthal Doctor of Philosophy PhD . He then worked until 1964 as a teacher at the Comenius and evening high school in Düsseldorf. In 1970 he qualified as a professor at the University of Gießen for the subject of modern German literature. From 1971 he was professor at the Technical University of Braunschweig , from 1973 professor at the Free University of Berlin and from 1979 professor for general and comparative literature at the University of Mainz . Mennemeier, now retired , lives in Mainz . He has a son, Stefan (* 1961), from his marriage to Felicitas, b. Wilhelm (* 1935; † 2001).

Franz Norbert Mennemeier published numerous literary works and reviews , and since his retirement also several narrative works.

Franz Norbert Mennemeier is a member of the PEN Center Germany . In 1961 he received the advancement award for literature of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia .
