Franz Ocskay of Ocskö

Franz Ocskay von Ocskö (* 1775 ; † August 6, 1851 ) was a Hungarian entomologist .

Life

Baron Franz LB Ocskay was born as the son of Major General Joseph Ocskay von Ocskö (* 1740 in Ocska; † 1805 in Dubova ( Banat )). He lived in Ödenburg (today Sopron ) and is known, among other things, for describing new insect species, for example the little golden insect .

Memberships

Franz Ocskay von Ocskö was accepted into the German Academy of Natural Scientists Leopoldina in 1830 . When La Société Cuvierienne was founded in 1838 , he was one of the 140 founding members of the society.
