Franz Plaickner
Franz Josef Plaickner (born May 4, 1930 in Franzensfeste ; † January 6, 2011 ) was a South Tyrolean trade unionist and politician .
biography
Plaickner was initially involved in the South Tyrolean Trade Union Federation (SGB), which in 1952 had joined the Christian Confederazione Italiana Sindacati Lavoratori (CISL) for legal reasons . When he saw that the concerns of German- and Ladin-speaking workers were no longer adequately represented in the national Italian trade union, he founded the Autonomous South Tyrolean Trade Union Federation (ASGB) in 1964 together with Otto Gander and Alois Singer . The ASGB, whose first chairman was Plaickner, developed in the following years into the union organization with the largest number of members in South Tyrol. From 1968 to 1973, Plaickner was also a representative of the South Tyrolean People's Party and a member of the Regional Council Trentino-South Tyrol and thus also of the South Tyrolean Parliament .
