Franz Ram (born February 12, 1813 in Hernals ; † April 17, 1889 ibid) was an Austrian city architect.

Life

Franz Ram was the son of the town architect Ignaz Ram , with whom he probably also learned and practiced. From 1828 to 1830 he attended the academy's engraving school and the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna until 1832 . He also studied at the Polytechnic from 1830 to 1836 .

It can be assumed that he began his professional career with his father. In 1844 he then obtained the master builder license. Despite his good education, he was less busy than his father than his father. On the other hand, he was able to establish himself as a leading demolition contractor in 1858 in the course of the city expansion when the bastions were demolished.

Franz Ram had been married to Josepha Prigl since 1844 and had four children. He died at the age of 76. His construction company was closed shortly thereafter.
