Franz Raschid
Franz Raschid (born October 18, 1954 in Linz , † October 22, 2010 in Essen ) was a German football player and coach.
The midfielder, who comes from the Dinslaken Zechenverein VfB Lohberg , played for Bayer 05 Uerdingen for 14 years from 1974 to 1988 and made a total of 166 first division appearances (21 goals) and 198 second division appearances (30 goals) during this time. The "Arab", as the son of Yugoslav parents was called because of his dark hair, celebrated promotion to the Bundesliga three times (1975, 1979, 1983) with Bayer Uerdingen and won the DFB Cup in 1985 with the club .
After his active career, Raschid became a coach. Shortly after he had made his coaching license, he was for a short time (1990/91) coach with Arminia Bielefeld in the Oberliga Westfalen. After that, Raschid mainly worked in his homeland on the Lower Rhine. After engagements at VfB Homberg and VfB Lohberg, he took over the Voerder Verein Glückauf Möllen in 1998 , which he led from the regional league B to the regional league Niederrhein . After the last promotion in the summer of 2006, he resigned from his position in the first half of the following season.
In the summer of 2008 Raschid took over the coaching position at PSV Wesel-Lackhausen and immediately rose to the state league in his first season. In the spring of 2010, Raschid could not agree with the club on a contract extension due to different sporting views, so that Raschid stopped at the end of the 2010 season.
He died of pancreatic cancer on October 22, 2010 at the age of 56 .
In honor of Franz Raschid, the fan block (Block K) of the Grotenburg Stadium was renamed "Franz Raschid Block".
