history

1928 to 1948 - early club years

The club was initially founded as Spielverein Lackhausen on August 15, 1928 by Hermann Buchmann (chairman), Willi Holtkamp ( managing director ) and Friedrich Fest ( secretary ) and joined the West German game association when the club was founded. In order to be able to start playing, a place was initially made available by the municipality of Obrighoven-Lackhausen . However, this should quickly prove to be too small and unsuitable, so that the club could start an orderly game operation, so that after another search the club found a free field in the vicinity and developed it into a football field on its own initiative.

1948 to 2003 - post-war period and rebuilding

In the period after the Second World War , an orderly game flow was out of the question. Due to its strategically important location on the Rhine and Lippe , 97 percent of the city was destroyed in the Second World War by the air raids on Wesel . On August 14, 1948, around 50 members of the Lackhausen gaming club and the Wesel postal sports club decided to merge into what is now the Wesel-Lackhausen 1928 postal sports and gaming club . In addition, the PSV had to undergo denazification by the British occupying forces in the post-war period and obtain permission to run a sports club.

The then head of the post office, Karl Kolkmann, was elected as the first chairman. This meant that the employees of the post office at the time had to "voluntarily" join the PSV for a very low membership fee. From the 1950s onwards, PSV was able to guarantee a more orderly game operation, which in 1953 led to its first promotion to the district league. A year later, however, the PSV rose again to the 1st district class. After another year in 1954, again in the 2nd district class.

Under coach Ludger Vehoff, he made his second promotion to the district league in 1976. The promotion at that time brought with it not only new sporting goals but also financial difficulties. For this reason, perimeter advertising was installed at the sports facility for the first time. After only one year in the district league again, the PSV had to make its way to the lower class 1st district class. In 1978, the anniversary year, the PSV had around 600 members, three senior teams, one senior team, one women's team and 13 youth teams. 1979 succeeded the PSV using the NRZ the FC Schalke 04 to pick a friendly match to Wesel. In front of around 4500 spectators, the Wesel city selection lost, including Werner Spaltmann and Helmut van Wesel with 1: 5 goals.

At the end of July 1980, the club was able to move into the new venue near the Hüser restaurant. VfL Bochum competed as the opponent for the opening game . This won the game with 2:16 goals. In the same year the first Rhein-Lippe tournament took place. The tournament, which was held annually until 1989, a. the Bundesliga clubs VfL Bochum, FC Schalke 04, MSV Duisburg and Rot-Weiss Essen . A year later, the number of members rose to over 800 for the first time, which is due, among other things, to the establishment of the squash or volleyball department. In 1981 the stadium newspaper Post-Echo was published for the first time. Two years later, the PSV won the championship of the 1st district class and thus rose again to the district league. In 1984 another home game of the Wesel city selection, this time against MSV Duisburg, was lost 7-0.

In 1990, the first team under coach Klaus Nellesen made it to the district league again. Despite the good season, he was replaced by Werner Lehwald just a year later. After further relegation and appearances in the district league, he was promoted back to the district league in 1995 under Jörg Gonchoir. From 1999 the club had to deal with a new sports facility due to urban planning projects on the part of the city of Wesel. The city planned to sell the PSV site to the local Edeka retailer in the future and to enable the construction of a new shopping center there. Right from the start, the alternative venue was a new building on Molkereiweg, around 500 meters as the crow flies from the previous venue. At the end of the 2001/02 season, Jörg Gonchoir was to resign from the coaching position and Werner Lehwald was hired for the third time at the club.

2003 to 2009 - seasons in the district league

In the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons, PSV failed to gain promotion to the national league. On February 10, 2008, the PSV decided the opening game for the new club facility on Molkereiweg against TV Jahn Hiesfeld in front of around 1,500 spectators 2-1. The game was also a catch-up game for the first half of the season. PSV subsequently won the autumn championship level on points with TV Jahn Hiesfeld. On the last day of the 2007/08 season, the promotion between the first-placed TV Jahn Hiesfeld and the second-placed PSV was decided. In front of around 1,700 spectators in Dinslaken , Werner Lehwald's team lost 4-1.

In the 2008/09 season he was promoted to the national league. With a 6-0 win at VfB Rheingold Emmerich three game days before the end of the season, PSV extended their lead over pursuers Borussia Bocholt to nine points. One game day later, PSV decided the promotion duel for themselves. With a 6: 1 at SV Bislich and a simultaneous defeat of Bocholter Borussia (3: 4 at Sportverein Friedrichsfeld ), PSV secured the title. PSV only lost one game over the entire season.

2009 to 2013 - First promotion to the regional league

At the beginning of the 2009/10 season, PSV appeared in the national league for the first time in the club's history. Remaining in the national league was initially given as a goal for the following years. After a decent first season, PSV secured 12th place in the table with nine wins, nine draws and 12 defeats and was able to celebrate relegation on the last matchday. A year later they improved by one place in the table and could plan for another season in the national league on matchday 26. In an even better 2011/12 season, they finished 4th in the table on the last matchday.

In 2012/13, after a long and difficult duel with 1. FC Kleve , which had to withdraw the first team from the NRW League two years earlier , the championship title and thus promotion to the Oberliga Niederrhein was secured. On the last day of the match, PSV won 1-0 against Borussia Bocholt in their own stadium. The last nine league games in the national league have all been won. In addition, twelve of the 15 second round games were won with three draws and no defeat.

Since 2013 - present

In the 2013/14 season , PSV Lackhausen played in the Oberliga Niederrhein and thus entered the top division of the Niederrhein Football Association . In preparation for the new season, PSV played a few test matches. Among other things, the home game in the RWE Auestadion Wesel against Fortuna Düsseldorf on June 29, 2013 was lost with 1:12. Fortuna from Düsseldorf tested at PSV in June a year earlier. PSV also lost the game (1: 7).

After one home and one away win, PSV was only able to score in three more games. The low point was a 0:11 defeat at Sportfreunde Baumberg . Thus, PSV finished the first half of the 2013/14 league season with only one home win and ten defeats on their own playground, the first half of the season in 20th and last place in the table.

Stadion

PSV Wesel plays its home games in the Sparkassen Stadium . There are several soccer fields, a club building and other facilities on the grounds on Molkereiweg to ensure that games run smoothly. In addition to standing space around the main field, there has been a grandstand with a capacity of 135 seats and 60 standing places since March 2012. For the 2013/14 season, the main field was to be expanded to include a floodlight system. This was a requirement of the Niederrhein Football Association to start playing in the Oberliga Niederrhein. However, since the expansion of a floodlight system did not seem secured for financial reasons, the evening games could be played in the Auestadion of the neighboring Weseler SV .
