Franz Rieger (born May 24, 1959 in Regensburg ) is a German politician ( CSU ). He has been a member of the state parliament for the Regensburg-Stadt constituency since 2008 .

Life

From 1966 to 1970, Rieger attended the public school and then the St. Michaels high school of the Benedictines in Metten, where he graduated from high school in 1979. He then did his basic military service in Regensburg and studied law at the University of Regensburg until 1987 . In 1990 he received his doctorate under Udo Steiner .

From 1992 Rieger worked as a public prosecutor at the Landshut Regional Court . He then worked as an independent lawyer from 1993 to 2000. Since 2000 he has been a specialist lawyer for inheritance law at a commercial law firm in Regensburg, where he is a senior partner.

In Regensburg he was district chairman of the CSU from 2007 to 2009, and since 2013 he has held this office again. Rieger has been a city councilor in Regensburg since 2008. He has been a member of the Bavarian State Parliament since the state elections in Bavaria in 2008 . There he is chairman of the Committee on Federal and European Affairs and Regional Relations and a member of the Committee on Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs. In addition, he is a deputy member of the Committee of the Regions at the European Union, chairman of the measures enforcement board at the Clinic for Forensic Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the Regensburg District Hospital, chairman of the prison board of the Regensburg prison, member of the board of trustees of the University of Regensburg and member of the board of trustees of the Center for Interventional Immunology at the University Clinic Regensburg. He is also President of the Regensburg Gymnastics Association. Rieger is married and has one son.

Corruption affair
