Franz Schellhorn (born May 26, 1969 in Salzburg ) is the head of the liberal business think tank Agenda Austria and a former business journalist .

Life

After graduating from high school, Schellhorn completed an apprenticeship as a banker at Creditanstalt-Bankverein from 1990 to 1991 . He then studied commercial science from 1992 to 1997 at the Vienna University of Economics and Business . In 2004 he was at the University of Vienna as doctor of economics doctorate .

In 1997 he started working as a business editor for the daily newspaper Die Presse . From 2004 to 2013 he acted as its director. From 2007 to 2013 he was responsible for the press column “SuperMarkt: What capitalism can do and what it cannot do”. In 2009 he was awarded the Horst Knapp Prize . In 2011 he became deputy editor-in-chief of the paper.

Since 2013 he has been director of the business-liberal think tank Agenda Austria . According to a report by Sándor Fülöp and Peter Sim im Falter , Schellhorn is a "vehement representative of neoliberal thinking in Austria."

His brother Sepp Schellhorn is a member of the NEOS in the Austrian National Council .
