Franz Stockbauer (entrepreneur)

Franz Stockbauer (born October 19, 1853 , † February 25, 1938 ) was a councilor and founder of today's Löwenbrauerei Passau AG . He is an honorary citizen of the city of Passau and the communities of Hals and Sonnen .

Franz Stockbauer was married to Maria, geb. Proell. He set up several foundations , for example the town hall tower music in Passau, the Freiplatzstiftung in the orphanage and the bread foundation. The foundations were merged in 1911 in the Franz and Maria Stockbauerer Foundation . Franz and Maria Stockbauer also sponsored over 230 confirmers. After his death, Franz Stockbauer's entire private fortune was brought into the foundation. The foundation pays out donations to the needy and gifted students. The funds for this come mainly from dividends from Löwenbrauerei Passau AG, in which the foundation is the majority shareholder.

The Stockbauer Weisse is still brewed today in the Löwenbrauerei Passau AG according to the original Stockbauer recipe . Stock Bauer is on the bottle cap as well as the bottles - labels displayed.

National Socialism

Stockbauer first met Adolf Hitler in 1922 , whom he later often met in Munich. He promoted Hitler and National Socialism from the start, but did not join the NSDAP until 1935 . In 1932 he still supported Paul von Hindenburg in his re-election.
