Franz Tapper , sometimes mistakenly written Franz Tappers (born May 10, 1886 in Neu Linum, West Prussia , † January 20, 1976 in Hamburg ), was a German film producer .

Life

After secondary school, Tapper completed a commercial apprenticeship and then worked as a businessman. From 1915 to 1918 he participated in the First World War.

With the film business since 1919, Franz Tapper, who had previously worked for the company as an authorized signatory, was appointed further managing director of Messtro-Film Verleih GmbH in July 1928. At the same time his power of attorney at Orplid-Film GmbH expired and Tapper also became another managing director of this company. Both companies formed a strategic alliance, known in the industry as Orplid-Messtro : Orplid concentrated on the production of films, Messtro-Filmverleih took over the marketing and distribution of the films. When the Messtro-Filmverleih went bankrupt in 1932, Orplid also ceased business.

Again as co-managing director, Tapper continued his career in December 1933 at Majestic Film GmbH. As a result of the Aryanization , he became a partner in the company in January 1936, alongside Christoph Mülleneisen junior . After their forced dissolution in 1941, Tapper became production group leader at Berlin-Film .

In the post-war period he was first production manager at Bavaria before founding a new company with Standard-Film in Hamburg.
