Franz Thanhofer
Franz Thanhofer (born November 28, 1905 in Urfahr , † November 28, 1983 in Linz ) was an Austrian politician of the Socialist Party of Austria (SPÖ).
education and profession
After attending elementary school for five years and attending three classes of community school , he learned the carpentry trade. He then worked in the construction industry and started as a commercial clerk at a construction company. He later became the state secretary of the Upper Austrian Construction and Woodworkers Union and, between 1959 and 1968, President of the Upper Austrian Chamber of Labor .
Political functions
- until 1934: functionary of the construction workers' union
- 1945: Construction of the construction and woodworkers union
- 1946-1955: Member of the Municipal Council of the City of Linz
- 1947: Chairman of the Upper Austrian Regional Health Insurance Fund
- 1957–1968: Chairman of the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions (ÖGB), state executive Upper Austria
He was also active in the Republican Protection Association.

- May 6, 1953 to November 16, 1961: Member of the Federal Council ( VII , VIII and IX legislative periods), SPÖ
