Franz Werner (theologian)

Franz Xaver Jacob Heinrich Werner (born October 26, 1810 in St. Pölten ; † February 17, 1866 there ) was an Austrian Catholic theologian, university professor and member of the Frankfurt National Assembly .

Life

Franz Werner's father was the chimney sweep Joseph Karl, his mother Thekla (née Feldreich). Franz Werner studied theology in Vienna and was ordained a priest in 1834 . Then he was chaplain in Tulln and Krems on the Danube . From 1838 to 1852 he was professor for church history and canon law at the seminary in St. Pölten .

From December 16, 1848 to April 23, 1849 he was a member of the Frankfurt Paulskirche parliament for the constituency of Melk . He remained non-attached and was the successor to Carl Spurzheim .

In 1852 he became cathedral capitular in St. Pölten and director of the local seminary. From 1861 until his death he was provost of the cathedral .

He was an employee of theological journals, including the "Journal for Church Law and Pastoral Science", the "Journal for the Entire Catholic Theology" and the "Oesterreichische Vierteljahrsschrift für Catholic Theologie" -
