Franz Xaver Maßl

Franz Xaver Maßl (born December 8, 1800 in Straubing , † March 3, 1852 in Passau ) was a German Roman Catholic clergyman and theologian .

Life

Maßl attended the Straubing High School and then went to the Regensburg Lyceum , where he began studying theology. In 1825 he was ordained a priest in Regensburg . After completing his training, he first became a preacher at the collegiate church of St. Jakob in 1828 and a religious teacher in Straubing, after which he was pastor in Hunderdorf from 1835 and in the same position briefly from 1843 in Cham .

Maßl moved to Passau in 1846. There he got the office of pastor of the parish church of St. Paul . There he obtained the office of dean and the office of district school inspector .

The Theological Faculty of the University of Prague awarded him an honorary doctorate . For his twenty-five year jubilee as a priest, Karl Schiedermayr dedicated a festival mass in D major for choir and orchestra to him.
