Franz von Mack
Franz Mack (born January 1, 1730 in Vienna , † November 8, 1807 in Kalksburg ), Edler von, was Imperial Royal Jeweler, Privy Councilor and owner of the Kalksburg estate.
Life
Coming from a humble background, Franz Mack became a court chamber jeweler in Vienna with close ties to Empress Maria Theresa and Emperor Joseph II . He was known for his accomplished goldsmith and jewelry work.
Franz Mack was one of the early bourgeois climbers of the Josephine era . In 1783 he was an apprentice, in 1785 he was a master of the Masonic lodge "Zum heiligen Joseph" in Vienna. He was the owner of several houses in Vienna and bought the Kalksburg estate in 1790, where he expanded the “Mon Pérou” noble residence, which was formerly owned by Princess Carolina Trautson. Mack is considered to be the benefactor of Kalksburg; he had the Kalksburg parish church built and the Kalksburg cemetery laid out. In 1791 he was given the nobility title "Noble von".
In 1793 Mack had a family crypt built on the Kalksburg cemetery he had laid out. His own tomb is located in the Kalksburg parish church "Zum Heiligen Peter in Ketten ", which he donated . In the 23rd district of Vienna , at which the formerly independent municipality Kalksburg heard today named after Franz Mack and his family runs Mack alley .
