The Reformed Church in Hinwil is a transverse church in the rural community of Hinwil in Zurich .

history

Hinwil Church (before 1932)

Hinwil is one of the oldest sites of a Christian church in the canton of Zurich: a church building is mentioned as early as 745, which was later followed by two Romanesque buildings. Today's church corresponds to the Protestant type of transverse gallery hall, which has been very popular in the region since the Wädenswil church was built in 1767. The Hinwil Church was built in 1786/1787 in the style of early classicism . The tower dates back to the late Middle Ages .

Pilasters and stucco inside the church are made in the late Rococo style . The marble pulpit on the long side already shows classical forms. The portals were added in 1856 in the late classical style.

organ

The first organ to be inaugurated in 1868 was the instrument, which was taken over from the Reformed Church in Wädenswil and built in 1824 by Bergmann & Schildknecht (Donaueschingen). This was followed in 1943 by that of Metzler Orgelbau (with electric action), this instrument is now in Plaffeien . Today's organ (III / P / 32) from Mathis dates from 1973.

In addition to the main organ on the gallery, the church has a smaller organ (II / P / 7), which was also built by the Mathis company, originally to bridge the construction period of the new organ. The 1970 instrument is next to the pulpit.
