Research priorities

Schmidt-Dick's main task at the Numismatic Commission was the publication of a number of coin collections as part of the Thesaurus Nummorum Romanorum et Byzantinorum (TNRB) project as well as the processing of ancient coins as part of the project The Fund Coins of the Roman Age in Austria (FMRÖ). Another outstanding thematic focus is the systematic analysis of the imperial Roman rever typology .

Methods / approaches

In addition to carefully examining the coin as a source, Schmidt-Dick endeavored to see and present it in the context of emissions, based on the ideas of the Viennese structure . In addition, based on a detailed consideration of the basic types with all their variants, she investigates the possibilities of communication of the coin as a medium, whereby the smallness of the object in the picture and legend requires a brief and abbreviated presentation.
