Freak Power was an English band that played a mix of acid jazz with funk , soul and trip-hop . The band was formed by Norman Cook , later known as Fatboy Slim , Ashley Slater , who was a trombonist with the jazz big band Loose Tubes in the 1980s , and four other musicians. In 1997 the band was dissolved again. Most of the songs were written by Norman Cook, Ashley Slater, or both together.
Career
The single Turn On, Tune In, Cop Out was a minor hit in the UK charts when it was first released in 1993. After the song in TV commercial taxi of Levi's - jeans -Werbung was produced, it gained international prominence. It reached number 36 in the Swiss singles charts, number 23 in the Netherlands and number 17 in New Zealand.
The band released two albums: Drive Thru Booty in 1994 with hits Rush and Turn On, Tune In, Cop Out , the title of which is a pun on the phrase "Turn on, tune in, drop out" by Timothy Leary , and More Of Everything For Everybody in 1996, whose song # 6 was played in the movie Code 46 .
