Fred Ewing Lewis

Fred Ewing Lewis (born February 8, 1865 in Allentown , Pennsylvania , † June 27, 1949 there ) was an American politician.

Lewis attended the Collegiate and Commercial Institute in New Haven , Connecticut and Muhlenberg College in Allentown. After studying law, he was admitted to the bar in 1888 and practiced in Allentown. In 1896 and again in 1902 he was mayor of the city.

Lewis was elected as a Republican to the 63rd Congress , where he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives from March 4, 1913 to March 3, 1915. After that, he returned to his previous profession and was also active in the banking industry. From 1932 to 1936 he was again mayor of Allentown. Lewis died in his hometown in 1949 and was buried in Union-West End Cemetery .
