Fred J. Brown
Frederick Joseph "Fred" Brown (born April 7, 1935 in Los Angeles , California , † November 9, 2003 in Northridge , California) was an American sound engineer .
Life
Brown began his career in the mid-1950s with the film noir Scream on the Night by Frank Tuttle . After a few more feature films, including Elmer Gantry , he turned to television in the mid-1960s, where he participated in numerous television series between 1964 and 1967. Among other things, he took part in 60 episodes of Charming Jeannie and 69 episodes of In Love with a Witch . From the late 1960s, his main focus was again on film, and he was only occasionally involved in television productions. Tilby won the 1973 Primetime Emmy for his work on the television film The Last Word, starring Henry Fonda and Maureen O'Hara .
For William Friedkin's horror film The Exorcist , he was nominated for the 1975 BAFTA Film Award in the Best Sound category. As a result he worked on a number of major Hollywood productions such as The Depth , Convoy and The China Syndrome . Between 1982 and 1988 he worked on the first three films of Sylvester Stallone's Rambo series. 1986 he was for Rambo II - The contract for the Oscar in the category Best Sound Editing nomination.
Brown retired from the movie business in 1997 and died in Northridge, California in 2003 at the age of 68.
