Government of Neergaard I
The Neergaard I government was formed in Denmark on October 12, 1908 by Niels Neergaard von der Venstre and replaced the Christensen government . The first Neergaard government was in office until August 16, 1909 and was then replaced by the Holstein-Ledreborg government , which was also formed by the Venstre .
In the elections for the Folketing on 25 May 1909, the won Socialdemokraterne of Peter Christian Knudsen on the first occasion the most votes, but was due to the electoral system, only 24 mandates, so that the ruling Venstrereformpartiet despite significant renewed losses with 39 seats still the strongest party remained. However, it no longer had a majority in the 144-strong Folketing and therefore formed a minority government.
