Holstein-Ledreborg Government
The Holstein-Ledreborg government was formed in Denmark on August 16, 1909 by Ludvig Holstein-Ledreborg von der Venstre and replaced the first Neergaard government . She was in office until October 28, 1909, when it was succeeded by the first Zahle government of Det Radikal Venstre .
After the elections to the Folketing on May 25, 1909, the ruling Venstrereformpartiet remained the strongest party with 39 seats despite significant further losses, but no longer had a majority in the 144-member Folketing and therefore formed a minority government. The reason for the early end of the Holstein-Ledreborg term of office was the adoption of the Defense Code (Forsvarsforliget) of October 18, 1909, which led to the construction of various fortifications and barracks, and the addition of the Army Act (Hærloven) , which was passed on September 30, 1909 and brought with it a reorganization of the army organization. While Defense Minister Jens Christian Christensen endorsed these new regulations through a compromise with Det Radikalische Venstre (RV) from Carl Theodor Zahle , Holstein-Ledreborg rejected them. Thereupon there was a vote of no confidence , from which the RV emerged victorious and the government resigned on October 28, 1909.
