Fred Klaus (born February 27, 1967 in Eckental ) is a former German soccer player.

Career

He achieved his greatest success as a player in 1989 with Hamburger SV , when the club finished the season in fourth place in the Bundesliga . Klaus played 29 games in the first Bundesliga, in which he scored a total of three goals. He also played in 178 games in the 2nd Bundesliga and scored 44 goals there.

As a coach he was in charge of FC Bayern Hof until August 2003 and then worked as a youth coach. After working as an assistant coach at ATS Kulmbach in 1861 , he returned to the youth field at 1. FC Lichtenfels , SpVgg Greuther Fürth and TSV 1860 Munich . Since July 1, 2012, Klaus has been training the FC Augsburg U19 team .

His son Felix is also a soccer player and has been a member of the VfL Wolfsburg professional squad since 2018 .
