Adam "AJ" Rosen (born April 12, 1984 in New Rochelle , New York ) is a British luge rider .

Career

Rosen was born in New Rochelle in the United States and has been involved in luge since 1998. Since 2003 he has been a member of the British national team. The entrepreneur in the music business, who obtained his license at the age of 16, contested his first race in the Luge World Cup in the 2003/04 season . He contested his first race in Calgary and was 34th. The best result of the three appearances in his first season was 27th in Park City . In the overall ranking, Rosen finished 43rd. The 2004 Luge World Championships in Nagano finished in 27th place. In the following season he contested six of the eight races of the season and was 39th overall. At the 2005 World Cup in Park City, the Brit finished 29th. In 2005/06 at the latest , Rosen finally established himself in the World Cup. For the first time he left his British competitor Mark Hatton behind in the overall ranking of the World Cup and finished 30th. He also achieved a top 20 result for the first time with 18th place in Calgary. Highlight of the season was to participate in the 2006 Olympic Winter Games of Turin . In the competitions of Cesana Pariol , Rosen finished 16th and achieved his best international result to date.

Rosen's development continued in 2006/07 . He contested almost all World Cup races again and was 26th in the overall standings. Although he could not improve his best result, he consolidated his average performance at a higher level and was never worse than 27. He also finished 24th at the 2007 World Cup in Igls , confirming the level of performance at that time. The 2007/08 season brought slight deterioration for the first time. In the overall standings, Rosen fell one place to 27th place, he didn't get a result better than 20th place but two results in the 30th place. The Briton finished the World Championships in Oberhof 25th, in Cesana he was 16th at the European Championships . Although Rosen was only 26th at the 2009 World Championships in Lake Placid , the 2008/09 season brought a new leap in performance. Although he started with mixed performances at the beginning of the season and also had a performance low at the beginning of the second half of the racing series, he achieved a result among the top ten with sixth place in Calgary for the first time. In the overall standings, too, despite two races without a result, he achieved a new best result with 24th place.

At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , he finished 16th in the individual, as in 2006. Four years later, he missed qualifying for the Olympic Games in Sochi .

At the 2017 Luge World Championships on the Bob-Rodel Igls artificial ice rink , he finished 29th in a two-seater and achieved 14th place in the team relay. In the same year he was already 18th in the doubles with Raymond Thompson at the European Championships . He finished tenth in the team relay.
