Fred Robinson
Frederick L. "Fred" Robinson (born February 20, 1901 in Memphis , Tennessee, † April 11, 1984 in New York ) was an American jazz trombonist .
Robinson recorded from around 1927 in Chicago with Carroll Dickerson and from 1928 with the Hot Five and the Savoy Ballroom Five by Louis Armstrong . Because of these recordings ( Hot Fives & Sevens ) he is mainly remembered today. In the 1930s he played with Edgar Hayes , Benny Carter (1933), Andy Kirk (1939/40), Fletcher Henderson . 1950/1 he was at Noble Sissle . In 1954 he gave up music entirely.
