Fred Teschler

Fred Teschler (born September 27, 1926 in Dresden ; † July 11, 1997 there ) was a German opera singer ( bass ).

Life

His father Friedrich Teschler was a chorister at the Dresden State Opera , and after the Second World War he initially worked as a journalist. He then completed his vocal training and gave in 1955 at the State Opera of Dresden his debut as a farmer in Die Kluge by Carl Orff . He remained a member of this opera house for more than twenty years, became a chamber singer in 1965 and in 1979 took part in the world premiere of Rainer Kunad's opera Vincent .

Since 1962 she has made regular guest appearances at the Berlin State Opera . He was also a guest at the Komische Oper Berlin , the Stuttgart State Opera , at the opera houses in Sofia , Brno , Bucharest , Zurich , Leipzig , Baltimore and Boston, and at the Salzburg Festival . At the Handel Festival in Halle he appeared regularly as an interpreter of classical baroque operas.

In addition to his stage repertoire of more than 40 roles, he was a highly valued concert and oratorio bassist. Guest appearances and concert tours have taken him to Holland and France, West Germany and Finland, Egypt, Syria and Iraq.

In 1976 he was awarded the Handel Prize of the Halle District in the Handel Interpreten collective at the Halle State Theater .

Fred Teschler died on July 11, 1997 in Dresden. He is buried in the Loschwitz cemetery .
