Emergence
The song was created during a project week ("How is a pop title created") at the Otto Hahn Comprehensive School in Hamburg-Jenfeld . The music teacher Jürgen Kreffter supervised this project. The then 16-year-old Andreas Dorau brought the music to this project, the students Natalia Munoz Valderrama, Nicole Kahl and Birgit Mensur wrote the text. Andreas Dorau had sold the song as his own work to a record company , but later had to share the income from the marketing with the other parties involved. According to the label of the single at the time , an Ata Tak production, the title was penned by Dorau, Olaf Maureschat and Kreffter; Kreffter was not mentioned on the cover. Andreas Dorau then became the musical director of the project. The cover design comes from the Ata-Tak designers Moritz R® and Eberhardt Steinkrüger.
The song is on Andreas Dorau's album Flowers and Narcissi . The single, released in 1981 by Telefunken with the B-side Also the home is no longer beautiful (music and text: Dorau / Fenstermacher ), reached number 21 in the German single charts . In Austria it rose to the highest position in 13th place and stayed in the charts for four weeks. The song was also released in Great Britain on March 1, 1982 on the innovative independent label Mute , which at that time also released the German-American Friendship Singles, which were also produced by Ata Tak . The song titles have been translated into English on the cover and label ( Fred from Jupiter and Even Home Is Not Nice Anymore ), but the tracks are the same as on the German single.
The “Marinas” are Claudia Flohr (then 13 years old), Michelle Milewski (then 14), Dagmar Petersen (then 13), Isabelle Spelly (then 11) and Kristine Süßmilch (then 12).

The text is about an extraterrestrial charmer from Jupiter , who is described as "very attractive and also very muscular" , who lands on earth because he is running out of fuel. There he bewitches all women, but is ultimately caused to disappear again by the jealousy of earthly men. The women are sad at this, but Fred swears to come back.
