Freddy Allemann

Freddy Allemann (born June 11, 1957 in Basel ) is a Swiss writer and performer . Since 2009 he has headed the Théâtre de la Fabrik in Hégenheim , Alsace .

Life

He lived in Ascona from 1972 to 1981 , trained as a bookseller , attended an acting school and played theater for many years. At a young age he came into contact with well-known artists and authors in Ticino , who encouraged him in his writing. First publications appeared in newspapers and magazines from around 1975. In 1978 he founded the literary magazine Philodendron . Allemann was Vice President of the German-Swiss PEN Center for several years . At the beginning of 1991 he founded the Basel Authors group . From 2002 he worked successfully with the musician Laurent Charles in Dadaist stage programs. Allemann's poetry has also been translated into Albanian and French.

Allemann is a cousin of the poet Silja Walter and the writer Otto F. Walter . He is a member of the German-speaking Swiss PEN Center, the ADS Authors of Switzerland and the ZSV Zurich.
