Frederick L. Whitam

Frederick L. Whitam (born February 7, 1933 in Natchez , Mississippi , † July 10, 2009 in Tempe , Arizona ) was an American sociologist and author .

Life

Whitam studied sociology at Millsaps College in Jackson (Mississippi) , at the University of Chicago , at the Columbia University and at Indiana University , where he the Ph. D. acquired. He has held positions at Millsaps College, the State University of New York, and the University of Texas at Austin . In 1965 he came to Arizona State University , where he was a professor from 1986 to 1997.
